Nick Pollard

Nick is the co-founder and International Director of Damaris. He is an accomplished author, speaker and broadcaster. He has written or co-written 10 books, appeared on many radio and TV programmes and spoken in countless venues across the world. When not reading, speaking or developing Damaris, Nick plays golf badly.

Experience

Nick has many years of experience as a speaker in Universities, schools, churches and many other venues. He is very popular and engaging for all audiences. Christians appreciate his clear Biblical exposition. Non-Christians appreciate the way in which he treats them with integrity; as he enables them to explore spiritual and moral issues in general and Christian faith in particular - at their own pace. Nick is particularly gifted at dialogue and debate - and has debated publicly with many atheist and agnostic scholars.

Nick is known for the way in which he uses a dynamic and engaging style of presentation to communicate accurate scholarly content - making it accessible to everyone.

Speaking topics

Nick is very happy to speak on a wide range of subjects but offers the following as particular specialities:

Workshops for Christians:

Nick offers these very popular multi-media workshops (complete with worksheets and follow-on books) designed for ordinary Christians who want to develop their ability to live out and communicate the gospel appropriately in this fast-changing media-driven world:

Interesting people who aren't interested - training Christians to understand and help people to reconsider their worldview, with an introduction to understanding and utilising contemporary popular media. Follow-on book: Evangelism Made Slightly Less Difficult.

Helping people through the maze - a clear and accessible introduction to two highly influential non-Christian worldviews (neo-paganism and metaphysical naturalism), demonstrating how these are driven into our culture through popular films. An exploration of how we can respond intelligently and appropriately. Follow-on books: The Talking About series

Get more like Jesus while watching TV - an interactive application of Romans 12:1-2 to living within a media-dominated culture. Follow-on book: Get More Like Jesus While Watching TV

Talks and events for anyone:

Nick is a very popular and accessible speaker who communicates appropriately and effectively with non-Christians in a range of different settings, using titles/subjects such as these:

Understanding teenagers - an exploration of contemporary teenage culture, looking for reasons beneath the surface of teenage behaviour. Follow-on book: Teenagers - why do they do that?

Looking for... (one-off or a series) - an exploration of some of our greatest desires and a consideration of the remarkable and radical answers Jesus appears to offer. Titles include: Looking for love, Looking for peace, Looking for new life, Looking for spirituality, etc. Follow-on books: Mark's Gospel and If Only

The Good Sex Bible - a comprehensive guide to good sex, based upon the teaching of the Bible. (Much of the material drawn from his unpublished book of the same name)

Good Question - exploring and answering any objection to Christian faith, such as:

  • There is no such thing as absolute truth
  • The Bible is full of errors
  • Science has disproved Christianity
  • Faith is just psychological
  • Suffering shows there is no God
  • etc

Who can say what's right or wrong? A clear and accessible exploration of a range of different ethical approaches to todays complex moral questions, assuming that there is no God; comparing these with the different approach one might take if, indeed, God were to exist. Follow-on book: Playing God - Talking About Ethics in Medicine and Technology.
