Saving Sex

How can I be really sure I love someone?'

Is it OK to have sex with someone if you are in love?'

Will I always be single?'

I think I'm pregnant – what should I do?'

Everybody has got questions about relationships and sex, but who can you ask? Saving Sex offers practical, down to earth answers to real questions from real teenagers. This book may not make the boy or girl of your dreams suddenly notice you, but it will help you to find a route through the minefield of teenage sexuality and discover the best that sex is meant to be.

Dr. Trevor Stammers is Senior Tutor in General Practice at St George's , University of London. He writes and broadcasts regularly on ethical issues in medicine. He is married with three teenage children.

Tim Doak set up and maintained the ‘Ask a Question' facility on Love For Life's Icebergs and Babies website. He is single and is creative director of BeFantastic.com.

‘Full of honesty, sensitivity and insight, Saving Sex provides answers to the questions most teens have about sexual issues. A must read for young people, youth workers and parents.'
Rachel Gardner and Dan Burke, youth workers and presenters of BBC2's No Sex Please We're Teenagers

'Probably the easiest book you'll ever read about sex! This is a great book to give to teenagers as it is a very easy read, any chapter can be read totally independent of any other. It has the answers that you may not be asked but wish you were.'
Kevin Baldwin, schools worker, Kings Lynn

'Concise, no nonsense and non-patronising'
Simon Hill, youth worker, Bournemouth

You can buy the book from the Damaris Online Store or from your local Christian bookshop.

Resources For Youth Groups

To help youth leaders get the most out of Saving Sex with their groups, we have produced a number of youth group meeting plans. No two youth groups are the same but they do, generally speaking, fall into some basic categories. Decide which of the following options best describes your group, and then select the appropriate sessions. As with any published resource, you will still want to adapt the material to suit your group. You may find some useful alternative material by looking in the 'wrong' session, but the labels below should give you the best starting point for constructing the right session for your youth group.

Our intention is for each type of group to be able to run two sessions. The first session introduces the topic and ends with each young person being given a copy of Saving Sex to take away. The second session follows up on the content of the book and gives young people the chance to respond to what they have read and apply the advice of the book to their own situations.
