What happens at a Culturewatch Course?

The course is deliberately flexible, to suit different situations, but a typical short or long Culturewatch Course session might look like this:

  Short
(minutes)
Long
(minutes)
Introduction to the film 1 2
Clip 1 3 3
Group discussion 3 5
Clip 2 3 3
Group discussion 4 10
Recent scholarship on the topic 3 5
Clip 3 3 3
Group discussion 4 10
Clip 4 3
Group discussion 10
Summary 6 6
Total time 30 60

At the end of the session the leader gives each guest a small glossy booklet that will enable them to reflect on the issues that will probably have been raised in the discussions.  This helps to progress their thinking through the series...

I want to be happy
I want to be free
I want to be loved
I want to have purpose
I want to be spiritual

By the end of the last session they might be responsive to an invitation to an Alpha Course or Christianity Explored - or, indeed, to church or a more conventional outreach event.
