Business model
Damaris is a charity (registered in UK, number: 1082499) which relies upon donations and grants to create and develop new resources - but then relies upon the revenue from sales to sustain those resources and to cover the general administration costs of the charity.
Our goal is to see all donations and grants being used to develop valuable new resources rather than maintaining existing resources or the administration of the charity.
In more detail, we seek to achieve this as follows:
-
Someone has an idea for a new Damaris product or service. This is usually Nick Pollard - but we are trying to encourage all Damaris team and members to send in ideas.
-
The idea for a potential new product or service is assessed to see if it meets two criteria
-
Does it fit with the Damaris Approach?
-
Is it sustainable in the following four ways
- financial - will it generate financial revenue which will enable it to continue and to grow?
- human - will it build-up people in every way - through the appropriate use of their gifts and talents?
- environmental - will it enable us to act as good stewards of all of the world's resources?
- manufactured - does it value and build upon the results of existing creative activity?
-
- If so, then a project plan and fully costed budget is prepared, to show how much money will be required to develop and launch the new product or service - and support it until it is financially self-supporting
- Then we seek to raise the amount of this budget through donations and grants into the Damaris Development Fund. As we do so we are confident that all the money received will be well used to create the new product or service which will then have a long life because it will support itself into the future
