Series descriptionThis series expires on 31/12/13
This series in the first five chapters of Genesis introduces us to the God of creation and the earliest human beings. The series covers foundational Christian doctrines, such as creation, man made in the image of God, and The Fall. Genesis is written, in part, to counter the prevailing beliefs in the world at the time. The surrounding cultures believed that there were many gods and their creation myths taught that human beings were made to serve the gods. In Genesis, we read that God made human beings to flourish on the earth, to enjoy his creation, and take joy in their relationship with their creator. After man (and woman) fall, the rest of the Bible is a record of God's work in restoring his creation.
A good understanding of these early chapters is essential in providing a foundation for your knowledge of the rest of the Bible. It is referred to again and again and again by theologians, writers and also by pastors and ministers today. This series invites you to increase your knowledge and love for Almighty God, who not only created the space you inhabit, but works even today (sometimes through you) to restore it.
