Peer Educator Pack

Technical issues:

This page provides information about any technical questions concerned with the GSF2010 Peer Educator DVD.

If you don't find a solution to your problem here, please email the details of the problem you face to help@damaris.org. We will try to solve it and update this page for everyone else.

How do I use the Peer Educator DVD?

  1. PC user:
To run the Peer Educator Pack, simply insert the DVD-ROM into your computer's DVD drive. The Peer Educator Pack is all contained within an application on the disk, which should run automatically. If it does not run automatically, go to "My Computer" and navigate to your computer's DVD drive. Double-click on the file "GSF10_PEP_PC" to start the programme.
  2. Mac user:
To run the Peer Educator Pack, simply insert the DVD-ROM into your computer's DVD drive. The Peer Educator Pack is all contained within an application on the disk, which should run automatically. If it does not run automatically, open the DVD drive from your desktop or Finder then double-click on the file "GSF10_PEP_MAC" to start the programme. NB If you want to copy the contents of this disc onto a server (eg an extranet) or another disc which you will want to use with a MAC then you must use a MAC to do the copying, rather than a PC (because a PC will not copy some MAC files and the MAC app will not then work).

When I click on a link within the Powerpoint to an image, video or pdf document I keep getting a pop-up message asking if I'm sure I want to open it - how can I stop this happening?

Please note:
This is normal behaviour for opening links from within Microsoft Office. For information go to Microsoft's support page.

Solutions:

  • You can simply click "OK" each time
  • To disable the warning message, go to Microsoft's support page and follow the instructions (note that this will disable the message for ALL Microsoft Office programs - not just Powerpoint)
  • You can download an application that claims to do this for you from this page - however this is not a Microsoft webpage and we cannot vouch for the reliability of this solution

I can't view a pdf document from the Powerpoint

Solution: Download the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader (for free) from Adobe's website

I can't view an wmv video from the Powerpoint
