Suggestion for use
- Show the first part of the programme - then freeze frame on the question "In this media driven world, can any of us really know what is true?"
- Invite people to share their answers with one another
- Invite feedback, and discuss what our answers tell us about:
- our view of the media - how influential is it in shaping how we view the world?
- our view of humanity - can people and their opinions be trusted?
- our view of reality - what does it mean to say that something is true, and how can we know anything for certain?
- Show the rest of the programme
- Deliver a short talk lifting off from the suggestion to look at Luke's intentions in writing his account of Jesus' life (Luke 1:1-4) - illustrating with contemporary quotes about truth and relativism
(NB these links into the large collection of relevant Bible references
and contemporary quotes are free to anyone with a subscription to Tools
for Talks - non-subscribers can obtain immediate access with a 1 year or 30 day subscription).
