About Primary Assemblies Online

Assemblies Online is an easy-to-use, flexible resource for anyone planning and leading acts of collective worship or religious observance in primary schools which comply with the legal requirements for schools in England and Wales.

Written by experienced teachers and children's workers, the website provides assemblies which link the latest films, music and TV to biblical stories.  Each assembly contains a range of activities for whole school, reflective group or age-based assemblies.

Broad themes and specific subjects allow subscribers to plan daily or weekly acts of collective worship which promote the spiritual development of all members of the school community.

Assemblies Online is owned by the schools department of  The Damaris Trust. This is an educational charity with a Christian foundation (mainstream, traditional, biblical). Legally, schools in England and Wales are required to hold a daily act of collective worship which must be of a broadly Christian character. During these times pupils should be invited to worship God, consider spiritual and moral issues, explore their own beliefs, develop community values and to reinforce positive, shared values.

 

However, in the busyness of the school day, providing imaginative, fresh assemblies can become another pressure on busy teachers.

 

So we aim to help by providing a resource which meets the legal requirements and is relevant, user-friendly and of a high standard.  Here is material which is easily used by teachers and engages pupils on a level they can understand and enjoy.
