Compassion is a Christian child sponsorship organisation which gives people the chance to make a difference.

Compassion seeks out some of the world’s most vulnerable children and through individual sponsors provides them with the means to break the cycle of poverty and create a viable future.

Children are clearly the greatest victims of poverty. Of the 2.2 billion children in our world today nearly half of them live in desperate conditions. But it is these children who hold the potential to break the cycle of deprivation for future generations. They are the pastors, teachers, doctors, engineers and change makers of tomorrow.

Working exclusively through local churches in developing countries, Compassion ensures that there is financial integrity, long-term commitment and the opportunity for every child to hear and respond to the good news of Jesus Christ.

Compassion has over 50 years experience of working with some of the poorest communities in the world. During that time more than one million children have been assisted by Compassion.

In all that they do, Compassion seeks to be:

• Christ centred
  Showing the love of Christ to those in greatest need.
• Child focused
  Aiming to help children develop economically, physically, socially and spiritually. This enables them to become adults who can make an impact on the world around them.
• Church based
  Partnering with local churches, and facilitating local Christians to teach, train and mentor children.
