Assemblies Online Primary

Rationale

Use the Themes and Subjects page to describe the rationale for your assembly.
The wide range of subjects will enable you to find a suitable assembly for your group.
The five main themes (Believing and Belonging; Times and Seasons; Values and Decisions; The World and Our Community; Stories and Characters) will help you decide how the assembly relates to the social, spiritual, emotional and community development of individual pupils and the school at large.

Title

Use the Title of the assembly. This is found in the For Your Information section of the page.

Aim

Each assembly has a Main Teaching Point found in the For Your Information section. Use this to help you describe the aim of your event.

Objectives

The  Main Teaching Point will also enable you to determine:
1. what pupils will have experienced (using the six sensings - mystery, values, meaningfulness, changed quality of awareness, otherness, challenge)
2. what pupils will be to describe, list, state, explain, evaluate, identify, select, analyse and evaluate.

Is this part of a series

Each Subject has 5 assemblies attached to it. These often form part of a series. If this is the case, there will be a For Your Information section at the top of the page.

Introduction

For this section, use an idea from the Create the Atmosphere section to set up a particular mood in the room as the pupils are entering.

Alternatively, select one of the Opening Activity suggestions. This will usually be a game, quiz, illustration or discussion and is provided to introduce the subject of the assembly.

Stimulus/Stimuli

The first stimulus for each assembly is the Cultural Material (film clip, song, excerpt from a book etc.).

Each assembly also has a Bible passage as a stimulus for reflection. These are both listed in the top section of the assembly.

Guided Reflection

From the Talk/Presentation section select the method of delivery you prefer. There is a fully Scripted Talk and a Headings and Bullets version of each talk.

Response

Under the heading Respond Now you will find a selection of responses including songs, prayers and reflection ideas. Select the response most suitable for your particular school.
