Using Assemblies Online in Scotland
Assemblies Online (Primary) can easily be adapted to fit the Religious Observance template provided by Learning and Teaching Scotland for Scottish primary schools. |
The following table will help you place the elements of Assemblies Online into the template:
Rationale |
Use the Themes and Subjects page to describe the rationale for your assembly.
Title |
Use the Title of the assembly. This is found in the For Your Information section of the page.
Aim |
Each assembly has a Main Teaching Point found in the For Your Information section. Use this to help you describe the aim of your event.
Objectives |
The Main Teaching Point will also enable you to determine:
Link with 5-14 or ACfE |
Use the Respond Later section to help you identify links to the curriculum, or go to www.relessonsonline.com to find resources for RME.
Is this part of a series |
Each Subject has 5 assemblies attached to it. These often form part of a series. If this is the case, there will be a For Your Information section at the top of the page.
Introduction |
For this section, use an idea from the Create the Atmosphere section to set up a particular mood in the room as the pupils are entering. Alternatively, select one of the Opening Activity suggestions. This will usually be a game, quiz, illustration or discussion and is provided to introduce the subject of the assembly.
Stimulus/Stimuli |
The first stimulus for each assembly is the Cultural Material (film clip, song, excerpt from a book etc.). Each assembly also has a Bible passage as a stimulus for reflection. These are both listed in the top section of the assembly.
Guided Reflection |
From the Talk/Presentation section select the method of delivery you prefer. There is a fully Scripted Talk and a Headings and Bullets version of each talk.
Response |
Under the heading Respond Now you will find a selection of responses including songs, prayers and reflection ideas. Select the response most suitable for your particular school.
