How to use RE Lessons Online

Finding a lesson

To find a lesson click on one of the links at the top and/or bottom of the page. There are a number of ways to find what you're looking for.

1.  Use the Modules index

The content of the site is divided into 18 separate modules. Each module has a number of learning objectives specified for it, and each lesson relates to one or more of these learning objectives. If you want to find a lesson to teach a particular topic, follow the links to take you to the appropriate module, then to the learning objective which most closely matches what you are looking for. Click on the 'View lessons' link and you will see a list of lessons related to that learning objective, which you can peruse until you find what you are looking for.

2. Use the Latest lessons link

RE Lessons Online is updated regularly. The four most recent lessons are always displayed on the front page of the site. If you click the 'latest lessons' link in the top right hand corner of the screen, you will be taken a more exhaustive list of our lessons, in chronological order. Just click on the title of the lesson you want. Wherever you are on the site, any lessons that are less than 30 days are marked with the 'new' icon.

3. Use the search facility

If you are looking for something in particular, our search facility will help you find it quickly. You can search for key words - including film titles - and choose whether you want to search within the entire lesson, just the lesson title, or just in the learning outcomes. If you've used a lesson before but can't remember which module it was in, this should quickly lead you to it. Don't forget that all of our lessons are named after the film, song, etc that they feature, so titles are usually the best thing to look for.

You can use the facility to search for lessons featuring specific Bible passages too.

Using a lesson

Once you have chosen your lesson, click on its title to get to the lesson plan. Where appropriate the plan will include a link for you to buy or rent the appropriate DVD or CD from Amazon for your convenience. You will find a key question and learning objectives laid out, as well as each stage of your lesson and a list of materials that you will need for the lesson. Any worksheets or other downloadable material that we provide can be found at the end of the lesson.

At the foot of each lesson are two features designed to aid your record keeping. The first is a button that converts the lesson into a pdf for you to print or save. Of course, if you don't want to save the lesson electronically (which we've already done for you by publishing it on our site), there is nothing to stop you from printing the lesson page without first making it into a pdf.

The second feature is a comments box for you to add any notes you wish to include on your pdf of the lesson. Please be aware that any notes you make will not be recorded on RE Lessons Online. If you want to keep a record of them, you need to print or save your pdf.

To use pdfs you will need a copy of Adobe Acrobat to open the PDF. If you do not already have one, click here to download one free of charge.
