The sight of a refugee camp stirs American Congressman Charlie Wilson into action, and changes the course of world history. Students consider the impact war has on communities and the impact individuals can have on the world.
Students will:
- reflect on the way that our opinions and choices can be changed by increased information or personal experience
- Reflect upon significant individuals who managed to exert profound influence on the world
- Understand the practical consequences for ordinary individuals who live in war zones
- Analyse Bible passages to determine reasons why Christians might be concerned about the suffering of war refugees
- Research opportunities for ordinary people to respond to the problems of war refugees
- Synthesise learning by writing a correspondence between a Christian social activist and an ordinary teenager

Students consider what a Christian perspective brings to resolving conflict and tensions in a variety of relationships, with particular reference to an errant boyfriend and his pregnant partner from the movie The Last Kiss.
Students will:
- consider what causes conflict in relationships
- Explore the conflict between Michael (Zach Braff) and Jenna (Jacinda Barratt) in The Last Kiss
- Analyse the advice given and actions taken by the characters in The Last Kiss to resolve the conflict
- Explore biblical teaching on resolving conflict in relationships
- Synthesise learning by applying biblical teaching to a relationships’ counselling role-play scenario, and writing a dialogue based on the role-plays
