Downloadable Clips from Feature Films

In partnership with major film distributors we are providing an increasing number of downloadable clips from feature films that are currently in the cinemas or just released on DVD. For each clip we provide associated resources such as background information on the film and suggestions for use of the clip in church services or other meetings. Sometimes the downloadable clips and associated resources are available free to anyone, sometimes they will be free only to those who subscribe to Tools for Talks. Here are a few examples...


My Sister's Keeper is about Anna Fitzgerald (Abigail Breslin) who was brought into the world to be a genetic match for her older sister, Kate (Sofia Vassilieva). It is based on a book of the same title by Jodi Picoult.

This film raises the ethical dilemmas surrounding saviour sibling and explores the challenges/relationships. (For more help on using this episode see Movie Moments)


Nativity! is an improvised comedy film from director Debbie Isett (Confetti), starring Martin Freeman (The Office, Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy). Failed actor Paul Maddens (Freeman) is a primary teacher who reluctantly takes on the task of organising his school's nativity play. Paul's rivalry with Gordon Shakespeare, his counterpart at the local private school gets out of hand when anarchic classroom assistant Mr Poppy overhears Paul's boast that a leading Hollywood producer is going to turn their play into a film. Soon events are spiralling out of Paul's control as the performance draws closer and closer.

9 is is an animated action film based on Shane Acker’s Academy Award-nominated short film of the same name. In a world where humans are losing their battle against machines, a man creates and gives life to nine rag dolls.  In this clip the group enter a library. 5 (John C. Reilly) and 9 find a picture of the world as it used to be and marvel at its beauty.

Race to Witch Mountain is an exciting family film about two alien teenagers. Here is a scene which shows three very different attitudes to unusual claims - scepticism, cynicism and gullibility. (For more help on using this scene see the Pollard on Film episode)

Monsters vs Aliens is a film about an ordinary person called Susan who is hit by a meteor on her way to her wedding. In the middle of the wedding service Susan suddenly turns green and starts to grow until she is enormous! Someone calls the government and Susan is taken away from her friends and family.

The Young Victoria is a romantic film from Momentum that tells the story of the first few years of Queen Victoria's reign. Here is a scene in which the young Queen states her intentions to help those of her subjects who are in need.

Bolt is a computer-animated film from Disney about a dog who believes he has super-powers. Through his adventures, the film explores what it means to be a real hero. Here is a scene in which Bolt attempts to rescue his friend, Mittens.
