You will have received a detailed teachers guide in a book format with the game which gives you a lot of information.
In addition, below you will find answers to other frequently asked questions...
You don't have to do anything - but we recommend that you carefully read the technical support pages (particularly if you are playing the game on a lower specification computer). The game is designed to be fully self-contained - with all the necessary instructions given in integral videos and email messages. It has also been thoroughly tested to ensure that it will work on all standard computers with a high enough specification.
Newsdesk can be played in part of a lesson as short as 15 minutes or a series of lessons as long as 15 hours!
This is because it is designed to be TWO GAMES IN ONE! You can use it in two ways, according to the lesson time you have available:
Play the WHOLE GAME - by letting your pupils play it from the beginning to the end. The beginning will give them the full background and teach them how to use the equipment, the end will enable them to construct their complete news story.
Play a SHORTENED VERSION of the game - by asking your pupils to click through the introductory videos and emails, until you get to the point where the two icons come up at the bottom of the centre screen (titled "Call Mandy and Phil" and "Call Norma and Patrick"). Your pupils can then carry out the interviews alone - and you can set them an appropriate task as a learning outcome. Then you can ask them to look through the library on the right hand screen - and again you can set them an appropriate task.
Any problems you might face should be covered in our technical support pages. In particular we recommend that you look at the "known issues" section at the bottom.
No installation is required BUT the program will run much better if you copy the whole CD onto your hard drive and run it from there. For more help on getting the best out of your game see technical support pages.
The proper way to exit is by turning around (using the arrow that appears on the bottom right hand side of the screen) and clicking on the exit door. However, you can also exit by hitting the esc key on your keyboard.
Yes, when players log-in with their username & password, they will find all their work has been saved. However, because the game writes some information onto the computer on which the game is being played, the player will have to work on the same computer as they did before.
Perhaps your question is answered on the technical support pages. Or perhaps you are the first person to ask this question - in which case send it to us at... newsdeskmarriagefaqs@ethosgames.com
