Required PC specification
The Quest is designed to run on computers which are running Microsoft
Windows 95, Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows ME, Microsoft Windows
2000 or Microsoft Windows XP. The Quest requires Microsoft Internet Explorer
v5.5. The CD-ROM includes a version of Internet Explorer v5.5 which will
be installed by the setup program for The Quest if required. Minimum recommended
RAM: 48Mb Approximately 12Mb of free disk space is required to install
The Quest.
Using The Quest over a network
The Quest v1 is not enabled for a network installation.
However, anyone who buys a site license may install The Quest directly
on any computer on their site.

Known
Issues
1. The Quest requires Microsoft
Internet Explorer 5.5 (or later) to be installed on your computer. If
the setup program detects that it is not already installed it will ask
whether you want it to be installed for you. If your computer currently
has Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 installed and you are using the Active
Desktop feature then it has been found that some Active Desktop configurations
may no longer work correctly.
2. When installing on some
machines the installation program may appear to stop when the progress
bar reaches 100%. However, it is just taking time to process - be patient
and the installation will proceed
3. There have been reports
of run-time errors occuring on some machines (particularly those operating
under Windows XP). To correct this click
here and install the fix
4. Some people have found that
the function called "copy this item to the clipboard" does not
work properly. This problem will be resolved in version 2 of the program.
Meanwhile tere is a very simple work-around for this - by using the function
called "save this item" (Both of these functions are accessed
from within the "canvas bag" at the bottom left-hand-side of
the screen)
IMPORTANT... If you
encounter any other problems please do the following:
1. Look in the folder where
you have installed The Quest (usually c:\Program Files\Damaris Publishing\The
Quest) for a folder called 'userdata'. In this folder you will find
a file called 'quest.trc'.
2. Send this file to tech@ethosgames.com
with a brief description of any error messages you see and what The
Quest was doing when the error occurred.
3. Look back here for the
solution to that problem. We are committed to solving any bugs as soon
as possible
Upgrading to Version 2SE
1. It is IMPORTANT that you
do not have The Quest running on your computer when you run the upgrade
program. If you have tried to upgrade but didn't close The Quest then
the only way back is to:
a) uninstall The Quest -
click on your Start button, then select Programs -> Damaris Publishing
-> The Quest -> Uninstall
b) reinstall version 1
c) run the upgrade
(but this time make sure you don't have a copy of The Quest running!)
