Media Internships

Students or recent graduates of a recognised institution of higher education may apply to be a Media Intern at Damaris. We would like to appoint two Media Interns each academic year.

(There are other options for spending a limited period of time at Damaris and working with Damaris staff team members, including Research Internships. Click here to find out which best suits your needs.)

These are examples of media that you will create with us:

A downloadable video for churches

What's involved?

  • Media Interns primarily work in media production for various projects within Damaris

  • The programme of work is set by Damaris, in negotiation with the intern

  • The outcomes will include effective work for the projects to which the intern is attached, and significant personal development for the intern

  • Interns can spend from two months to a year with Damaris, full or part time

  • Open to people taking a gap year after higher education and to students on placement as part of a higher education media course

  • Short-term internships are sometimes also open to students on placement or vacation from higher education media courses

  • Interns may attend (and occasionally contribute to) Damaris events (e.g. workshops or school conferences)

  • Interns are expected to work in the office during normal working hours, except when involved in events when some extra flexibility is necessary

What Damaris provides

  • Personal supervisor who will provide a monthly review, as well as co-ordinating the following:

  • Guidance and direction for the intern's skill development

  • Review and critique of the work for projects

  • Opportunity to attend, or to participate in, Damaris events

  • Access to Damaris studio, equipment and library facilities

  • Access to a computer with broadband Internet access

  • Informal interaction with Damaris staff team members

Note: Damaris cannot provide accommodation or organise it for you, but we may be able to put you in contact with some people who may be able to help - either by offering accommodation themselves or by finding someone else who can.

Fees and charges

There are no fees for interns because they are paying their way through the work they do for Damaris.

Remuneration

Interns are paid only for expenses incurred as part of their work for Damaris, and need to find the means to support themselves during the time of their internship, either by building a team of personal supporters or through part-time work.
